We are excited to announce the introduction of administrative features for the Ministry Themes. We have received several requests to introduce this functionality. The new features will make setting up the theme, easier and more intuitive.
Currently the focus is on improving administration of the front page. Currently updates to those pages, require a manual alteration to the site’s code. With the introduction of these exciting features anyone who can use a computer can update, and alter the website. We have also included a few other important fixes, which will make the latest version of the Ministry Theme, the biggest update ever!
Currently we are still getting all the nasty bugs or other errors and will release this update shortly. Ministries currently using the theme are eligible for FREE updates! Simply post a comment here or on the support forum, and I will send you the update once we make sure everything is performing at its best!! Additionally, we will be contacting everyone who purchased a Ministry Theme, to see if you want the update.
Do you have any ideas for future developments? We would love to hear your thoughts! Comment below.

Can the color scheme be changed on the Ministry Theme?
The majority of the the Ministry Theme were created to use CSS to color the various items. These modifications should not be complicated for someone who knows both how to modify CSS. The CSS file is clearly documented and laid out for users to find exactly what they are looking for. However there are a few elements which are colored using an image, for
instance the gray gradient background. To change the color for these items, it requires opening those images in a image
editor and modifying them. I provide an additional service for Ministries who need help getting their theme the way they like it.

Can the “Staff Blog” and “Sermons” boxes be customized to have more than just 2 entries each?
These will be a slightly more involved change, because it will require editing the Wordpress files. However, it requires a very simply change to the home.php file, its currently set to “showposts = 2″ you simply change it to the number of posts you want. The same is also for the “Featured Articles”.

Can the content for the “Staff Blog” and “Sermons” boxes be static content, or can it only be “recent posts”-type content?
Its also very simple to change the content to static however, when you require new content, you will need to re-dit that file. However, the Ministry Themes give you the ability to change the content from sermons to something more fitting for your Ministry. This will allow you to have a static looking section, without it being static.

Assuming you have hosting set up, and WordPress is installed, the next step is to install the theme…
1. Unzip/unpack your theme files.
2. Access your site with an FTP client.
3. Upload all theme files into the theme directory of your site, usually… www/wp-content/themes.
4. On your server, open the directory in the theme titled /plugins.
5. Move these files (1 folder and 1 file) into the plugins directory of your site, usually www/wp-content/plugins.
6. In your administration panel, go to Design and choose The Ministry Theme as your theme.
7. In your administration panel, go to Plugins and enable the 2 plugins called WPListCal (optional, but it offers a nice and easy event management tool) and Limit Posts.
That’s it. Just make sure to replace the logo – you can use our cross emblem but you’ll need some kind of graphics program to overwrite the name.
